Dry Needling Acupuncture in Bristol

What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is the use of acupuncture needles (thin metal needles without a hollow core) to reduce muscle pain and localised muscle spasm. Our therapists insert the needles into muscle trigger points (knots) for a short period of time as part of the overall physiotherapy treatment.

Dry Needling uses the same type of needles as are used for acupuncture. However, acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicinal approach to the treatment of a variety of illnesses. Our therapists do not offer Chinese acupuncture.

Who can have Dry Needling at Trust Physio Bristol?

Our therapists use dry needling as part of the overall approach to a clinical problem. There are some medical conditions that contraindicate the use of dry needling, and your therapist will discuss this with you during your consultation. If dry needling cannot be used, there will be other physio techniques that can achieve the same therapeutic goals.

How can I get Dry Needling at Trust Physio Bristol?

You can book a 45 minute initial consultation with one of our therapists at our clinic - 3 Berkeley Square, Bristol BS8 1HL.

A 45 minute initial consultation costs £75 and a 30 minute follow up session costs £55.

How does Dry Needling work and is it safe?

Dry needling works to reduce muscle spasm and pain, thereby improving strength and performance of the muscle. Much of the current research into dry needling supports the practice for relieving mild to moderate pain. Our therapists are trained in this extended scope of clinical practice and use vacuum packed sterile, single use needles. Dry needling can cause temporary localised bruising and soreness.
